Being Together
Camp Forrest: From a Summer Camp to Shared Home
Years ago, Carroll Moran bought an old, run-down summer camp that bordered the ranch. With work and vision, it has become a warm and welcoming space for gathering. The bunkhouses were rebuilt as fourplexes with private bathrooms. The lodge was restored. A chapel was added—finished just in time for Jacey and Matt’s wedding.
Today, the guest area includes 17 en suite bedrooms, a chapel, and a gathering lodge used for family reunions, weddings, and retreats. Churches use it for retreats. Friends use it to get away. The family uses it to reconnect.
Building Relationships that Last
The guest side of the ranch exists to create spaces for real moments to happen. People gather here because they feel at ease, because they’re welcome, and because it feels like coming home.
Giving Thanks
The highlight of the year at Lonesome Quail is Thanksgiving. For us it is a full week-long tradition with hunting in the morning, cooking through the afternoon, and family meals that stretch into the evening. We gather to celebrate the generosity of our God, recognizing that all we have comes from His good hand.
